In our future wokshop we will carefully train you to become an expert in this field. With a little bit of patience, a great deal of curiosity and a lot of willingness to learn you’ll become a real mold making specialist.

Precision mechanic and manual skills are required in mold making

Apprenticeship for precision machinist (m/f/o)

Duration of the apprenticeship: 3.5 years

Requirements:
A good secondary school certificate or an intermediate high school certificate with good grades especially in German, mathematics and physics.

The apprenticeship takes place at:
OPUS Formenbau Schönau and Carl-Bosch-Schule Heidelberg (school for vocational education)

The practical apprenticeship in our company includes

  • Learning metal working skills: testing, marking, filing, sawing, chiseling, drilling, countersinking, reaming, thread cutting, bending, straightening, embossing, joining, fitting
  • Basics of machining: turning, milling, grinding, CNC milling
  • CNC programming
  • Basics of electrical discharge machining: EDM, wire EDM
  • Basics of technical drawing, design engineering of components
  • Mounting of assemblies and molds
  • Mold test runs and sampling of molds in the injection molding pilot plant

After successfully completing your apprenticeship, of course we would like to keep you in our team. If you want to, OPUS offers you the chance to grow and develop according to your personal strengths and your commitment, and to become, for example, a:

  • Toolmaker
  • CNC mill operator
  • CAM programmer
  • CAD design engineer
  • Project manager

In addition, we offer plenty of cooperation opportunities for your career growth: You could choose to become a master craftsman or an engineer, or to study at a university of applied science or apply for a cooperative study programme at a university in Baden-Württemberg.

Then you should take a closer look at the cooperative study programme for the Bachelor in Engineering/Mechanical engineering! OPUS offers you the opportunity to combine well founded know-how from practical experience with the expertise of the cooperative study programme at the University of Mannheim. After successfully completing the studies, you’ll be a sought-after expert, capable to provide solutions for demanding challenges in mold making.

Bachelor degree in Engineering (m/f/o), mechanical engineering at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW)
Specialization in manufacturing or plastics technology

Requirements:
General university entrance qualification or a subject-restricted university entrance qualification with good grades in mathmatics and physics

The apprenticeship takes place at:
OPUS Formenbau Schönau and Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW)

Duration of the apprenticeship:
3 years (6 semesters)
